A Styled Shoot at GG’s Yard: Showcasing 2025’s Trends

At Laggan, we’re always looking ahead to help our couples create wedding experiences that feel both timeless and on trend. Earlier this year, we hosted a beautiful styled wedding shoot at GG’s Yard, designed to spotlight our unique venue while embracing the natural elegance and emerging style cues of 2025 weddings.

The creative vision behind this shoot was brought to life by Vicki McConchie, who masterfully blended the rustic beauty of GG’s Yard with this year’s most refined and nature-inspired wedding trends. Drawing inspiration from trusted sources like The Wed and Rock My Wedding, Vicki and our handpicked team of local suppliers captured a look that felt effortlessly fresh, organic, and sophisticated.

A Venue in Full Bloom

GG’s Yard’s Grand Hall was styled to enhance the venue’s signature exposed stone walls and high timber beams. To elevate the space while keeping a grounded, natural feel, white and fresh green florals were used in striking floral ceremony and table displays. Elegant drapes flowed from above, softening the architecture while framing the room with a romantic lightness.

Tables were styled with an unexpected but beautiful twist—fruit and vegetable accents added texture, colour and a harvest-inspired charm that echoed the surrounding countryside. This growing trend for edible decor tied in beautifully with the venue’s connection to the land and seasons.

Draping Dreams: Elevating the Space with Soft Textures

One of the standout 2025 trends featured in our styled shoot was the use of neutral hanging drapes, which added an effortless elegance to the Grand Gallery at GG’s Yard. Suspended from the timber beams, these soft, flowing fabrics brought height, movement, and a romantic atmosphere to the space—framing key moments like the feature log burner and reception tables with gentle texture.

Draping is a beautiful way to soften a large space, create zones within your day, and introduce your own style in a subtle yet striking way. Whether you’re envisioning something ethereal and bohemian or classic and refined, GG’s Yard offers a blank canvas for couples to decorate and style in line with their unique vision.

From ceiling installations and floral features to lighting and table settings, every element can be tailored to reflect your personal story. This shoot is just one example of how the Grand Gallery can be transformed—whether you lean into the natural tones of the venue or layer it with your own colour palette and textures, the space is yours to make your own.

Effortless Elegance in the Details

2025’s love affair with bows was showcased in subtle yet striking ways—from delicate hair accessories to romantic bow details on the gown supplied by Diane Honeyman. These flourishes added a sense of femininity and fun without overwhelming the natural palette.

The bride wore a breathtaking gown featuring an elegant back bow detail, running into the train, that struck the perfect balance between statement and simplicity. Paired with loose waved hair, in a half up half down style finished with a silk bow, the look captured the essence of 2025 bridal style: soft yet bold, timeless yet playful.

Bows also made their way into the finer table details—with dainty twine bows on the napkins and bow details in the cake design. This kind of thoughtful repetition throughout the day tied everything together—quite literally—with cohesion and creative flair.

In a year where bows are trending in every form—from oversized outfit bows to dainty accessories—they offer couples a beautiful way to personalise their look and add a tactile softness to their wedding aesthetic. Whether incorporated into fashion, florals, or decor, bows are making a graceful comeback, and we loved how they danced through this shoot with such understated elegance.

A Work of Art: Wedding Cake Trends for 2025

In keeping with 2025’s shift toward artistic, statement-making cakes, our styled shoot featured a showstopper that blended vintage elegance with sculptural finesse. Created by Connie at McCaker, this three-tiered beauty showcased ornate, piped fondant ruffles and swags, reminiscent of heirloom cake styles from the past, now reimagined for the modern couple.

With its rich, creamy palette and intricate detailing, the cake felt both nostalgic and fresh—capturing the essence of elegant maximalism that’s making waves in 2025.

In a year where couples are choosing cakes that reflect their personal style, artistry and heritage, this design hit all the right notes: vintage, romantic, and entirely unforgettable.

A Space to Inspire

GG’s Yard has always been about connection—to people, to nature, and to place. Nestled in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway’s coastal countryside, it’s a venue that balances rustic charm with refined elegance. This styled shoot beautifully reaffirmed just how versatile and inspiring GG’s Yard is. With each thoughtful detail, it proved that the venue can reflect contemporary trends while remaining rooted in the wild beauty that surrounds it.

This styled shoot perfectly captured the natural flow between our distinct spaces, highlighting the effortless transitions that make weddings here feel both expansive and intimate.

Spaces at GG’s

At GG’s Yard, you can make the most of all we have to offer. From preparations stating off in The Bride’s Room—a private, light-filled space designed for calm moments before the ceremony—and The Whisky Room, perfect for gathering family and Groomsmen. Both these spaces lead on to the stunning Ceremony Wing, the perfect place for making your vows. From there, couples and guests flow through to the Grand Gallery and GG’s Bar, where timber beams, exposed stone, and panoramic views create a striking backdrop for any celebration.

The Outdoor Terrace, which can be used as a fair weather ceremony space, embraces GG’s true signature attribute—its landscape. Overlooking the hills and sea, the setting blurs the line between indoors and out, where nature plays the role of both backdrop and décor. This connection to the outdoors continues throughout the day, with guests seamlessly moving between the Grand Gallery and Outdoor Terrace.

Whether you envision a soft and romantic look or a bold, trend-forward celebration, GG’s Yard offers a canvas that’s as adaptable as it is breathtaking. With exclusive use of the venue, accommodation on-site, and a team who are as passionate about the details as you are, it’s more than a wedding venue—it’s a space to dream, create, and celebrate.

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that flows effortlessly from indoors to out, that pairs elegance with authenticity, and that feels deeply personal—we’d love to welcome you to GG’s Yard.
